Hey there,

I know it’s been a while since we updated the news section, but that’s not to say nothing happened. Au contraire, mes petit frères. Allow me to update you.

In a nutshell, we have been artist in residence at ‘Into the Great Wide Open’ 2010, where we got to play with a choir, in a church and next to a herring stand. Being artist in residence meant that we were invited to stay on Vlieland to create and subsequently release the ‘Isle of You’-EP at ITGWO. If you missed out, it’s available now at the Excelsior shop.

Two previously unreleased El Pino songs make an appearance on the latest Stardumb record to celebrate their 50th release, aptly named ‘50’. Congratulations, Stardumb, here’s to the next 50! The record is available at the Stardumb site. In other news, Job done got himself married to Lisa (congrats!). And, last but not least, the El Pino fall tour is coming up!

“El Pino & the Volunteers zal dit jaar, op uitnodiging van Into The Great Wide Open, diverse optredens tijdens het driedaagse festival op Vlieland verzorgen. Onlangs ging de band al naar het eiland toe om voorbereidingen te treffen. Met de opgedane ervaringen schreef El Pino & the Volunteers enkele nieuwe songs en namen deze op met Frans Hagenaars in de aula van de lokale middelbare school. Deze opnames zullen samen met eveneens op het eiland gecreëerde artwork uitgebracht worden op en tijdens Into The Great Wide Open onder de titel ‘Isle of You’.”

Yessir, it’s out! The official video for our new single Black & Blue (iTunes, Spotify) was shot in a heroic one-take by director Maurice Trouwborst (De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Aux Raus, Ladybird) and features beautiful lighting by his majesty Freek Ros. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

It’s February and we’re already well into the tour following the release of ‘The Long-lost Art…’. This time around we actually get to take a whole crew with us. Luxury galore. Can’t begin to tell you how much we’re enjoying this aspect of touring…

The second single of ‘The Long-lost Art’ is a duet, folks. ‘Not Jealous’ is written by Room Eleven’s Janne Schra and of course our very own David Pino. What’s a single without a video, you say? I say you’re right. So we made one, with Jaap Hermans, following a concept by Johan Kramer and David Pino. You might have already seen it through our Twitter account, or at our homepage.
